OTHER COUNTRIES

Whisky is now made almost all over the world. In this category you will find whiskys from other manufacturing countries that are rather untypical for whiskey or not so well known. There are some European producers from Wales, England, Spain or France, for example. Occasionally, however, whiskys from more exotic countries such as Taiwan, Israel or Australia can also be found in our range. Many of these whiskys have surprised us positively over the past few years. Even though our main focus remains on Scottish whisky, we will continue to expand our range of international whiskys in the future.

Artful - inside and out - is a limited series from the Danish Stauning distillery: the Art Series. Curious whisky fans can look forward to unique bottlings, some of which have been refined in unusual individual casks. For the design of the labels of their Art Series, the distillery worked together with two Danish artists. One of them is no stranger to Stauning connoisseurs: Tattoo artist Thit. Her illustrations are the trademark of the Stauning Research series. For the Art Series, she has been inspired by nature. Her labels show animals from the Danish west coast, which together symbolise the distilling process - the separation of the distillate into heads, hearts and tails. This sensitive process is also depicted by the artist Martin Askholm, who trained at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Known for his figurative as well as abstract art, the Copenhagen artist created dynamic and colourful abstractions.

The Hellespont, now known as the Dardanelles, stretches between the European Gelibolu peninsula and northwestern Asia Minor. Up to six kilometers wide, the strait is a geographical dividing line between Europe and Asia. Anyone who swims from shore to shore connects continents. Like Alex and Nick Ravenhall as they crossed the water accompanied by a warm breeze. The New Zealand brothers are as dedicated to the whiskey industry as they are to the oceans. With their non-profit organization Whiskey and Waves, the open water swimmers collect donations that go to Sea Shepherd's ocean conservationists. This time they were once again supported by the iconic Bimber Distillery. Each of their swims through the Dardanelles was accompanied by Londoners' single malt strapped to their arms and legs. Bimber then filled the intercontinental drams back into the cask and perfected them in the Moscatel Cask No. 439 to create the single cask bottling Intercontinental.

The Germany Edition 2023 contrasts a whiskey made from barley malt with a bottling made from peat malt. Both matured in a barrel pre-filled with the sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry. Fully peated whiskey has only been known from Bimber since spring 2023. The distillers bring peat from Aberdeenshire to London and kiln the barley malt themselves in a custom-made drying oven. The smoky-fruity Bimber Pedo Ximénez Sherry Cask #458 is the result of these high standards of craftsmanship.

Christian Krogstad and his team of whiskey craftsmen let their single malt rest for at least three years. In a playful process called “mingling”, the contents are usually mixed into small batches from no more than 10-20 barrels, which capture the characteristic taste profile of Westward Single Malt: elegant, robust and fruity, with creamy vanilla and brown sugar notes and aromas of baking spices, lush fruit, sweet malt and a finish characterized by tobacco, dark chocolate and leather. Curious connoisseurs explore these aromas with an ideal drinking strength of 45% vol. - pure, on ice or in one of the delicious old-fashioned variants that the team has developed.

This single malt has its own fan base: Starward Ginger Beer Cask # 6 is the sixth edition of the Australian whiskey from the Project series. The reason for the high demand? An experimental barrel combination that provides variety on the palate. The progressive distillery even brews its own beer in-house. The recipe for Starwards Ginger Beer is well guarded. Only so much can be revealed: It contains large amounts of ginger, lemongrass and citrus peel. The ginger beer matured in Starward whiskey barrels for 6 months - casks full of exciting flavors that Melbourneers know how to use. For a 6-month finish, a fruity blend of the Australian version of sherry, matured Starward Australian single malt previously in red wine and apera barrels filled the ginger beer barrels - and gives curious connoisseurs flavors such as ginger, dark chocolate or orange the water run together in the mouth. Starward Ginger Beer Cask # 6 is part of the Starward Projects. In their “laboratory program”, the innovative Australians have room for ideas and new, unique forms of expression for their single malt. Tasting Notes: Nose: ginger, orange and dark chocolate. Palate: Strongly spicy ginger, fresh vanilla and pineapple, balanced by sweet raisins and figs. Finish: Intense, warming mouthfeel with candied ginger and citrus fruits.

Inspired by the food and bar scene in its home city of Melbourne, Starward Distillery produces single malts that focus on the pleasure experience: accessible, progressive and succulently matured in Australia's finest (liqueur) wine barrels. The urban distillers have long since perfected their award-winning standards - recently also visually. With the projects, they live out their creativity and create special bottlings that look beyond the boundaries of whisky production. The latest example: Starward Muscat. The single malt is a Starward premiere: it matured for four years in casks from Rutherglen, Victoria, which were pre-matured with the liqueur wine Muscat. A combination of still wet-filled and burnt barrels provides lush, sweet and fragrant flavours of lychee, sultanas, roasted almonds and cinnamon, which fade into a harmonious finish of toasted oak
