The father of Japanese whiskyy, Masataka Taketsuru, dreamed of building Japan’s first whisky distillery. In the years 1918-1920 he worked in various Scottish whiskyy distilleries and acquired his knowledge there. Single malt whiskey based on the Scottish model has been produced in Japan since the mid-1920s. The two biggest producers are Suntory and Nikka. Japanese whiskyy experienced a real boom after Jim Murray named the “Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask” as the world’s best whiskey in 2014. Similar to India, most Japanese whiskeys are exposed to tropical climatic conditions, so that the aging process differs greatly from that of European whiskys.

The Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of various Japanese spirits. Among others, it contains malts and grains from Yamazaki, Hakusbu and Chita. This composition manifests itself in an orchestra of different, full-bodied aromas, which is why the name "Japanese Harmony" was created.

This is one of the first releases from the Nagahama distillery. Since the distillery does not yet have enough of its own whiskey, the whiskey was blended with matured distillates from around the world. Edition no. 3 was also finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks. The Mizunara oak is very intense at the beginning. Finer aromas only develop after a longer maturation period. It shows a unique sweet and spicy taste profile, which is due to the high lactone and vanilla content.

Two distilleries, three barrel storage facilities, one brand: Mars distills a wide variety of high-quality single and blended malts - in three different climate zones in Japan. Thanks to this combination, Mars succeeds in producing new whiskys again and again that will surprise connoisseurs in their complexity. The Single Cask for Kirsch Import comes from the Tsunuki distillery and is the second bottling from this Mars branch after Tsunuki The First. In the subtropical south of Japan, distillates mature at temperatures of -2 ° C in winter up to 36 ° C, which shortens the maturation time. The single malt from the second fill bourbon barrel reached its aromatic maturity after only three years. Connoisseurs come with a cask strength of 61% vol. to the full enjoyment of the soft vanilla, crème brûlée, caramel and sandalwood flavors from the second fill bourbon barrel.

The 12-year-old Kurayoshi is mostly made in Japan, although a small part of the whiskey used also comes from Scotland. The whiskey is allowed to mature in classic oak barrels before it is diluted to drinking strength with the mild spring water.
