Port Askaig Cask Strength - Gateway to Islay This is the second batch of Port Askaig Cask Strength with the batch number 02-2024. The whisky matured in four different cask types, 34% in Pedro-Ximenez butts, 28% in oloroso butts & hogsheads, 36% in refill butts & hogsheads and 2% in bourbon barrels.

Lush flavours of fruit and spice, balanced by peat and tarred ropes: As usual for the gateway to the island of Islay, the Port Askaig Sherry Cask Quarter is also a tribute to the unique flavours of the Hebridean isle. The single malts from Port Askaig are true "mystery malts". So the distillery behind this exclusive bottling for the German market remains in the dark. Only this much can be revealed: It is a distillery from the north of the popular whisky region. The Port Askaig Sherry Cask Quarter is a small batch bottling limited to 1,000 bottles. The Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was matured on the north coast of the iconic whisky island until April 2022 and was combined from three American Oak Hogsheads as well as a Sherry Hogshead. The Andalusian cask share makes the peaty-maritime whisky a summery-fruity dram for Islay fans, which unfolds - neither chill-filtered nor coloured - at a crisp 57.1 percent by volume.
