Until 2014 they used Scottish malt, since 2015 only local ingredients. Caskhound has managed to secure a cask from this distillery. Only the greats SMWS and Berry Bros & Rudd have managed this before. Thus, they are only the third UA that can claim to bring a bottling of this distillery to the market. But what makes the distillery so special that they have bought a cask from this still small and by many still unnoticed distillery? Well, the Danes not only know how to distil good whisky, they are also the first to smoke their malt over nettle smoke. The owner knows this method from his homeland of Funen, where cheese, for example, is smoked in this way. So what we have here is a malt that is not peated but burnt. If that's not madness? The malt Caskhound chose was distilled in 2014 and spent 7 years in a 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Cask. The bottling comes in a 0.5 litre bottle, just like the OA bottlings from Fary Lochan. The cask yielded 430 bottles and we have 60.3%vol cask strength.
