Glenmorangie was started in a converted brewery in 1843 and rebuilt in 1887. Located in Tain in the Northern Highlands, it has a reputation for never selling its whisky to Blender. It is also known under the name “The sixteen men of Tain” – an old rule after 16 men should always produce whisky in the distillery. Glenmorangie has its own forests for its barrels and has a large share in the development of the use of different types of wood or barrels in whisky production. Today’s owner is Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy.
