The iconic Campbeltown Cross is a carved stone cross that stands proudly in the centre of the town, marking the birth of the historic town. The head of the cross and the carvings are believed to date from the late 1300s and feature a number of Celtic carvings, including the mermaid, which is said to have been seen in the waters near Campbeltown as late as 1811. Originally the cross was placed at a church outside Machrihanish. It is thought to have been brought to Campbeltown in the 17th century, when Campbeltown was granted town charter. From then on it served as the town's market cross, historically symbolising the right to hold a regular market at the site.For Release No.3 Campbeltown Cross Vintage 2010, the rare peated whisky stocks were selected to be distilled at the distillery for only a few weeks each year. The entire series is individually numbered and fully matured in 1st fill bourbon barrels, bringing the classic, maritime Campbeltown character to the fore. It is the third edition of the Landmark Series after "Campbeltown Harbour & Crosshill Loch". The Campbeltown Cross edition is limited to 3,000 bottles.
