A new bottling in the series takes us to the south of the small town of Elgin, where the Glen Elgin Distillery is surrounded by the greenery of Speyside. Completed in 1898, it was the last distillery to be built in the boom phase of the 1890s. To this day, it uses a "wormtub condenser" - a rare cooling system that makes the raw spirit heavier and fuller in flavour. The soft, fruity character of its single malts is also reflected in Glen Elgin 2014/2023: typical notes of marmalade, apples and pears are complemented on the nose by crème brûlée and cream with sweet spices. On the strong, full-bodied palate, there is a harmonious balance between fruit and oak. A dram full of character that makes you wonder why Glen Elgin is not one of the biggest names in the Scotch whisky industry...
