To celebrate our 120th anniversary and the Best Whisky Shop Germany 2025 award, we have bottled this special bottling, limited to 120 bottles, alongside two other whiskies. The whisky is part of a cuvée from Caol Ila, which was previously aged for at least 10 years in a PX sherry cask and an Oloroso sherry cask. The whisky was bottled at 49.7% ABV. The aroma of this Islay whisky is captivating, with salty, lemony, and maritime notes. On the palate, it is pleasantly mild with delicate iodine smoky notes. The finish is mouth-filling and long-lasting.

Through the Lighthouse series of the Wu DRAM Clan, we got to know our dealer colleague Jörg from Whiskyjace. Together we have now selected another cask that we have bottled together for the "Art Edition" series of Whiskyjace. This is a 12-year-old Caol Ila from the island of Islay, which was first matured in a refill hogshead and then finished in a sherry octave. The cask then yielded a total of 107 bottles with a cask strength of 57.8%. We have divided the bottles between the two partners.

This eight-year-old single malt hails from the renowned Caol Ila Distillery and was curated by independent bottler Murray McDavid for the exclusive Cask Partnership Series. Distilled in 2018, the spirit initially matured in traditional casks before undergoing a distinctive finishing period in American oak barriques. These casks originated from Caves de Murça, where they had previously held fine Tawny Port for three years. The combination of Islay’s maritime power and the heritage of Portuguese winemaking craftsmanship makes this bottling a rare testament to precision artistry. Tasting Notes Aroma: Distinct peat smoke and maritime notes merge with an intense bouquet of dark forest berries and dried fruits. Palate: The palate reveals a rich texture of redcurrants and zesty spice, underpinned by an elegant smoky note. Finish: The finish is long-lasting, allowing delicate nutty notes and subtle fruit sweetness to fade amidst gentle wisps of smoke.

Unique casks, personally and locally selected in Scotland's whisky regions, always cask strength, never chill-filtered or coloured. Sounds magical? No wonder, because these Best Drams are the work of Michel Reick, who as a whisky druid makes the magic of handpicked casks accessible to connoisseurs. Five newcomers make magical moments of enjoyment possible this week. The new Best Drams have had between 6 and 15 years to develop their exquisite aromas. The single cask bottlings open up exciting perspectives for whisky fans on distilleries from the Isle of Islay, from Speyside and the Highlands - in combination with the classic bourbon barrel or aromatic (sweet) wine casks. Characteristic peat smoke and maritime notes, on the other hand, combine harmoniously with sweet grapes, plum and spices in the Islay Single Malt Caol Ila 2007/2022. Responsible for this: the finish in the First Fill Ruby Port Cask. Tasting Notes: Nose: Peat smoke with a maritime, slightly iodine note in combination with port, dark grapes, some plum and a hint of nutmeg before the smoke subsides. Palate: Powerful attack with intense peat smoke. Iodine passes to the fruity sweetness of fully ripe grapes and finally spicier notes of thyme, nutmeg and a hint of cinnamon. Aftertaste: Very long with lots of peat smoke that transitions to fruity sweetness.

Like the other bottlings, it's great for exploring great drinking whiskies for moderate money, giving an insight into the G&M world. Official Tasting Note: Sweet vanilla and dry cured meat aromas, peat smoke undertones are complemented by apple and apricot. Ripe banana, kiwi and vibrant hints of fresh citrus, leading to a long, sweet and smoky finish.

There is a lot of talk about rarities. This 32-year-old originally bottled Caol Ila, on the other hand, is probably really one. This whisky was bottled for the Wu Dram Clan, Bram and Floris & Pierrick and is limited to 181 bottles. It was matured for the entire duration in a refill American Oak Hogshead with the number 6223. The whisky itself is excellently balanced. It is more delicate on the nose, but definitely more powerful and full-bodied on the palate. It brings maritime, but also light fruity notes and citrus fruits.
