The distillery is located south of Wigtown on the banks of the River Bladnoch, from which it also draws its water. It is the southernmost Scottish distillery and is therefore one of the Lowlands. The distillery was founded in 1817 and is still active today.

With Bladnoch "Alinta", Scotland's southernmost distillery opens a new chapter and introduces the first heavily peated Bladnoch single malt. In the language of the Australian aborigines, "Alinta" stands for fire or flames, which is why David Prior, the Australian owner of Bladnoch Distillery, is presenting his latest bottling with this addition to the name. Bladnoch "Alinta" is a heavily peated distillate from 2009 (still produced under the previous owners), matured in first fill bourbon casks as well as heavily peated distillate from the new production (since 2017), matured in first fill PX sherry casks. Bottled naturally without the addition of colouring and without chill-filtration, at the strength of 47%. It is worth mentioning that the 2009's portions of the "Alinta" are really special. On the one hand, they were produced with the old still, and on the other hand, this only took place once. Only one batch of heavily peated malt was distilled by the then owners of Bladnoch in 2009 and so it is truly a rarity. In combination with the new distillate matured in PX casks, the result is an impressive and multi-faceted drop.

Aptly named THE DRAGON SERIES, Bladnoch Distillery has released a set of limited editions - five bottlings, each symbolizing a stage in whiskey production. At each stage there are numerous factors that affect the final product, so the process resembles a kite curve. The Mathematical Dragon Curve is a fractal object that branches out at each stage. Similarly, whiskey production is a series of random factors and involuntary decisions that add complexity and opportunity as the process progresses. The five bottlings optimally show the character of the Bladnoch distillate in combination with different types of casks. Bladnoch "DRAGON SERIES" I-V is only available as a set. This set consists of: Bladnoch "The Field": Refill Bourbon - 46.7%. Factors: type of grain, cultivation area, weather, malting process, gate level Bladnoch "The Spirit": Bourbon - 48.3%. Factors: water, yeast, mash tun, fermentation, still shape, cut points Bladnoch "The Casks": 1st Fill Spanish Oak Sherry & 1st Fill American Bourbon Cask - 49.9%. Factors: type of oak, growth, wood pores, cooperage, toasting level, first filling Bladnoch "The Aging": Red Wine Hogsheads & 1st Fill Bourbon - 51.1%. Factors: Dunnage Warehouse, Storage Location, Seasons, Humidity, Temperature, Ripening Time Bladnoch "The Decision": Hungarian Tokaji Wine & Spanish Canasta Sherry - 53.1%. Factors: cask stock, selection, blending, nose, taste, alcohol strength, finish

Bladnoch Distillery launches Bladnoch "Liora" in the Core Range (which Bladnoch calls their "Classic Collection"), the first bottling with higher strength. Master Blender Dr. Nick Savage has used Virgin Oak casks on the one hand and Fresh Bourbon Barrels on the other for the latest bottling from Bladnoch and has decided on a higher alcohol strength in order to present the influence of the fresh American white oak in particular in a lush and powerful way. The result is a Lowland Malt with broad aromatic shoulders that lingers on the palate for a long time. A first presentation during the Aquavitae in Mülheim led to pronounced praise for the goodness and fullness of aroma of the Liora. The Tasting-Notes NOSE: Fresh cut apples, with toasted caramel and floral notes. PALATE: Caramelised toffee apples with peppery spices and fresh cut oak. FINISH: Long, with a slight warming dryness.

Following the highly popular but limited preview of the first eight-year-old Bladnoch expression, the first actual eight-year-old bottling from the Queen of the Lowlands' new production has now arrived. And Bladnoch has kept its word – this new bottling is every bit as good as the limited edition! The recipe offers a rich cask influence – Master Blender Dr. Nick Savage has married casks that were twice matured in a fresh Californian red wine cask during the eight-year maturation period and bottled at a drinking strength of 46.7%. Nick himself describes his latest creation as "Samsara on steroids." The Tasting Notes: "This rich expression presents a nose of strawberries and herbal pine cones. A palate of strawberry jam, polished oak and nutmeg with a long, sweet and warm finish."

Bladnoch "Vinaya" is the first bottling from Bladnoch Distillery with parts from the new production after the reopening of the distillery in 2017. It is a blend of new and old, i.e. distillate from the old stills that were in operation until 2009 and from the new distillery that was commissioned in 2017. Both fresh bourbon and fresh sherry casks are used. This is the first step into the new Bladnoch era, but at the same time a gentle transition, as older portions were also used, which are now 12 years and older.
