In the center of the Speyside on the northern slope of the mountain of the same name lies the Benrinnes distillery, which was founded in 1835 under the name Lyne of Ruthrie. It has a peculiarity. It has a wash still,in which low wines are separated. First, they are moved to Spirit Still No. 2, then to No. 1. The distillate is then distilled again. It is therefore a very special form of triple distillation. Benrinnes gets its water from the Scurran and Rowentree Burns.
