The Aultmore distillery, whose name means “large stream”, is located north of Keith and thus in the Speyside. It was built in 1896 by Alexander Edward. The single malt is used almost exclusively for blends.

The whisky for this bottling was distilled in 2009 and 2008. It matured for 14 years in two 1st fill rye barrels and an oloroso octave.

This 14-year-old Aultmore was bottled by Douglas Laing for its own "Old Particular" series. Distilled in September 2008, the whisky matured in a sherry butt, which gave it typical sherry aromas of dried fruit, dark red fruits and chocolate. The single cask, limited to 283 bottles, was bottled exclusively for the German market.
