Auchroisk
The distillery is located near Mulben near Keith and belongs to Speyside. Opened in 1974, it is one of the younger and more modern distilleries in Scotland and belongs to the Diageo group. Auchroisk does not have its own malt house. The malt is sourced externally, is unpeated and is used to produce a spirit, which often brings some spice and is primarily used in the production of blends (= Justerini & Brook).
Although the distillery is considered very modern, it is located on an industrial site and does not receive any visitors. With 4 wash stills and 4 spirit stills, about 3,100,000 million litres of alcohol are currently produced. As already mentioned, the majority of this is used for the production of spirits. Basically, Auchroisk has no relevant original bottlings on the market. The 10-year-old Auchroisk from the Flora & Fauna series is unofficially traded as an original bottling. If you still want to get an idea of the distillery’s character, you can have a look at various independently bottled Auchroisk. We have already been able to count 2 Auchroisk among our own bottlings.

For 25 years, the Flickenschild company from Itzehoe has been putting its own whisky bottlings on the market. In addition to cooperations with other independent bottlers and original distillery bottlings, the company also repeatedly fills its own casks in Scotland.
After bottling a total of 14 bottlings in the Scottish Roadsign series in recent years, the new "Slainté" series is now starting with three bottlings. Together with Hamburg artist Mats Matthée, a series was created illustrating various Scottish toasts. The first bottlings include two smoky whiskies from the Caol Ila Distillery on the island of Islay and a Speysider from the Auchroisk Distillery.
Auchroisk 2010 Wine Barrique
Tasting notes: Sweet aromas on the nose, caramel, crème brûlée and sweet cereals with hints of orange peel. Pleasantly creamy and oily on the palate - ripe fruit, malty sweetness, caramelised sugar with a long warming mouthfeel. Quite spicy with the nutty notes typical of Auchroisk.

This 10-year-old Auchroisk is part of the "Flora & Fauna" series. The respective bottle label always shows a motif from the regional animal and plant world. By the way, the term Flora & Fauna is not an official designation and therefore not noted on the labels. The aroma is relatively citrus-fresh with a little mint. Herbs are also present. The taste is somewhat summery, with yellow fruits.

This 2009 Auchroisk was allowed to mature in an oloroso sherry cask. On the nose, there are cherries, mint and caramel, followed by red berries, apples and spice on the palate.

Brave New Spirits carves its single casks from the Cask Masters range from selected casks with precision and attention to detail - similar to the Japanese paper-cutting technique Kirigami, in the style of which the independent bottler designs the labels.

This 12 year old Auchroisk from a Sherry Butt was bottled by Signatory for "World of Single Malt" in 2022. The whisky is limited to 752 bottles at 46%.
