Why is the Aberfeldy Distillery located in the middle of the picturesque Highlands of Perthshire? A special water source was a strong argument for the founders Tommy and John Alexander Dewar. Near the whisky distillery, a small river flows into the Tay, which is not only known for its outstanding water quality, but also for its (at least legendary) gold deposits. Aberfeldy Whisky? The Golden Dram! The appealing bottle in black and gold clearly expresses this. This connoisseur's bottling from the Exceptional Cask Series was selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod. This Aberfeldy 18 y. o. is indeed exceptional: After initial maturation in bourbon casks, the Highlanders matured the single malt for an additional 22 months in sherry casks, to which it owes its promising mahogany tone. Limited to 516 bottles, the whisky is bursting with fruity notes that combine with spices, creamy vanilla, black tea and cocoa on the nose and palate.

The 12 year old Aberfeldy is characterised by a great deapness, having flavours of honey and caramel. Those are followed by spices and orange peels. Summarized: A soft and harmonic Single Malt.

This 16-year-old Aberfeldy single malt received its final maturation in special red wine casks that previously held Saint Julien Bordeaux. The powerful and complex wine has transferred its fruity and complex character to the whisky.
