HIGHLANDS
The Highlands whisky region includes the area north of an imaginary line between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It includes the Speyside sub-region, the area around the world’s most famous salmon river, the River Spey, which is home to around 30 distilleries in a relatively small area. Highland single malt whiskeys are generally mild and fruity. However, there are now numerous exceptions, with some distilleries deviating from their traditional methods for a few weeks a year and producing a heavily peated whisky (e.g. the Benriach distillery). The increasing experimentation with different types of casks also makes it difficult to determine the taste of an entire region.

At the same time as the Tomatin, we and our friends from the whisky store in Oberhausen bottled another top whiskey in spring, which is in no way inferior to the Tomatin in terms of quality. It's a Deanston 2007 from a First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt. The whisky was of course bottled at cask strength.
In terms of taste, this whisky features an enormous range of fruity aromas paired with a nice herbal note. The exact tasting notes will follow shortly. A total of 564 bottles are available at both stores.

Bei diesem Loch Lomond Single Cask handelt es sich um eine Fasssteilung zwischen unseren Freunden aus dem Whiskyhort Oberhausen und unserem Hause. Der Whisky wurde im November 2004 destilliert und nach 14 Jahre Reifung in einem 2nd Fill PX Sherry Cask im Februar 2019 abgefüllt. Die Abfüllung wurde in Fassstärke abgefüllt und ist auf 320 Flaschen limitiert.
This Loch Lomon 2004 Single Cask was bottled for Flickenschild and Whiskyhort. The Whisky was distilled in November 2004 an matured for 14 years in a second fill PX Sherry Cask before it was bottled in February 2019. It was bottled in cask strength and is limited by 320 bottles.

It smells fragrant, fruity, slightly smoky, and with a hint of the sea. It tastes spicy, creamy, fruity, and again delicately smoky. And it absolutely cannot tolerate being diluted with water. One of those malts where you can easily forget to drink it because you're so busy enjoying the aroma.

He created this whisky together with the owner of Edradour, Andrew Symington.
It is maybe the best Edradour that exists: Full of flavours, warm and strong.

The new standard is a delightful combination of strong peat smoke and a lovely sherry character. Ballechin 15 y. o. is a vatting made of a strongly smoky spirit that matured in first fill bourbon barrels and second fill oloroso sherry butts. Batch 1 was bottled in 3,126 bottles exclusively for the German market and, at 15 years old, is still one of the brand's oldest bottlings. Sweet smoke and dark fruit flavors can be found at 59.4% vol. Cask strength and the absence of cooling filtration show in all their glory.

A grassy, fruity whisky with hints of lemon and oak spice opens up on the nose. On the palate you first have the fine lemon that you had in your nose before. Finally, there is a wonderful harmony between the natural sweetness and oak tones of the whisky.

The novelties matured exclusively in sherry butts, starting with the dark Ben Nevis 2013/2022. The single malt with rough edges is created by short fermentation and short distillation in the Spirit Still.
Behind the scenes at The Single Malts of Scotland (Elixir Distillers), two of the most renowned whisky personalities in the world pull the strings: brothers Rajbir Singh and Sukhinder Singh. Kirsch Import has secured three single casks from the series of consistently outstanding bottlings exclusively for Kirsch customers.
