Spanish-style rum is made from molasses and distilled in column stills. The fermentation time is relatively short and the aroma is characterized by light and sweet notes. Typical countries producing Spanish-style rum are Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Cuba, Colombia, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

Eminente Gran Reserva Edition N°1 is a 10 year old Cuban rum made from a blend of light rum and aguardiente with a finish in French (Cognac) oak barrels. Eminente Gran Reserva Edition N°1 consists of 80% aguardiente and has an alcohol content of 43.5%. Gran Reserva is the first limited edition in a series of limited edition cask finishes that can be expected in the next few years with Gran Reserva 10 years.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: The initial aroma of freshly roasted coffee, red fruits and flowers fades away
a hint of honey and vanilla with a nice, almost minty freshness.
Mouth: In the mouth, balanced, supple and deep with a fruity profile, this time of dried apricots and orange blossoms with notes of sandalwood,
Hazelnut and allspice is determined.
Finish: The finish is silky, persistent and sweet with the spicy character of Sichuan pepper, with hints of caramel, pine sap and saffron.

The latest single cask release from Wu Dram Clan was distilled in 2007, matured for 12 years in tropical Barbados and then for 6 years in continental Great Britain before being bottled in 2025. The ex-bourbon cask yielded only 244 bottles – at a natural cask strength of 59.5%. Those familiar with Foursquare know what to expect:
Typical aromas such as vanilla, caramel, tropical fruits, spicy oak, toffee, chocolate, raisins, and nuts – embedded in a wonderfully balanced, tropical profile.
As with all releases in the Mask series, a hand-drawn mask adorns the label – inspired by the indigenous cultures of the Caribbean. Artist DEE MIGHT devotes intensive research and loving design to each mask. The Barbados mask reflects the origin, pride, and history of this rum.

The northern German premium brand FRC has dedicated a single-cask series to unadulterated sugar cane distillates. The design of the Dutch Windmill Collection speaks for itself: stylish black and white with golden eye-catchers meet iconic windmills and bottles made of dark glass offering light protection.
The trio is based on sugar cane molasses. With a duration of three weeks, it fermented for an above-average length of time and in a temperature-controlled manner. Distilled twice in small handmade copper pot stills, bottled at cask strength.
The result? For example, the astonishingly soft Oranjemolen 4 y.o. Notes of wine and tropical fruits are extracted from the Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask, and the label features the historic Oranjemolen from the coast of the Netherlands.

The Ron Canuto 7 y.o. blends distillates of different maturation stages, with 7-year-old rums forming the youngest component. Masterfully blended, the blend is aged in barrels for another one to two months before bottling. Ron Canuto is produced in small batches, numbered by hand and hand-signed by the Master Distiller. Senior of the Dutch Windmill Collection is De Gekroonde Poelenburg 10 y.o., named after one of the few remaining wind-powered sawmills in the Netherlands. The decade in the American oak Virgin Oak Cask gives the rum fine vanilla and intense oak tones with some citrus, coconut and plum.
