VALLEIN TERCINIER
The eventful success story of the Vallein family and their vineyards began in the late 18th century. Today, in the fifth and sixth generation, the house’s cognacs delight the palates of discerning friends of French brandy. Catherine Roudier-Tercinier and her nephew Stéphane Roudier, who are leading the house into a new era, are building on the wealth of experience of their ancestors – and above all around 25 hectares of vineyards on the property, which was purchased in 1791. Here, around the small community of Chermignac about 40 kilometers off the Atlantic coast, the mostly Ugni Blanc vines thrive on various “crus”. From them, Vallein Tercinier distils and blends (sometimes with bought-in eaux-de-vie) the finest, yet affordable cognacs for category connoisseurs and newcomers – including, increasingly, whiskey fans. The family business has been conquering the latter group of connoisseurs for some time with precious single cask bottlings from the extensive and decades-old inventory of the house.

With this Vallein Tercinier Lot 71 Petite Champagne, we are launching our fifth in-house cognac bottling in collaboration with Sebastian Jaeger from the Wu Dram Clan. On the nose, the cognac impresses with intense floral aromas and slightly earthy notes. These are mainly characterized by orange peel with a little vanilla, dried plums, peach and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, the lush and ripe fruits, reminiscent of a fruit jam, immediately dominate. These are accompanied by notes of caramel and chocolate. The finish is mouth-filling and lingering.

The start of the Core Range is marked by two versatile cognacs outside the mainstream. For this, the GrapeDiggaz worked closely with the innovative and established house of Vallein Tercinier. A specially developed recipe is the basis for the GrapeDiggaz Cognac VSOP.
At 46.3% vol., it displays a fruity top note reminiscent of young Highland malt. Fresh green apples, pears and grapes are harmoniously combined with malt and honey. The 4 to 10 year old VSOP is also an assemblage of different crus, with the Bons Bois setting the tone.

It blends distillates of up to 25 years from different crus, especially the Fins Bois, Bons Boins and Grande Champagne. Leather, spices, tobacco, chocolate and peach unfold at a slightly higher drinking strength.

This bottling is a cognac from various Vallein-Tercinier casks that are at least 10 years old. This bottling pays tribute to the roots and the age-old tradition of the blenders of the cuvees. On the nose it offers delicate notes of orange peel and nuts. The taste is followed by vanilla, cinnamon and brioche aromas. The XO Roots has a long and smooth aftertaste.
