Makar is a juniper-infused, handcrafted, small-batch Scottish gin of the highest quality. The name is derived from the old Scottish word for ‘poet’ – a poet who embodies the craft and attention the team of distillers give to each bottle.
The gin is distilled seven times in a copper still called ‘Annie’ – named after the great-grandmother of one of the founders, who ignited the founders’ passion for innovation and quality. Seven is also the number of carefully selected botanicals that support the finest juniper berries that form the heart of the gin.

As early as 1770, a distillery called Dundashill stood on the current site of the Glasgow Distillery, which was one of the first licensed whisky distilleries at the time. In 2014, Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall decided to revive this piece of history and founded the Glasgow Distillery. Today, it is one of the few city distilleries in Scotland dedicated to whisky production (= and gin). With their four pot stills, they currently produce around 440,000 litres of alcohol a year.
