Mackmyra 2010 Whisky Druid – 41,3%

For his Whiskey Druid Mackmyra 2010/2022, the druid once again ended up in the country of longing, Sweden. The pioneering Swedish distillery Mackmyra is used to innovative and versatile products made from local ingredients. In addition to non-smoky whisky, the Scandinavians from Gävle distill smoky single malt and kil malted barley over Swedish peat.
The new druid also builds on this peaty distillate. Matured in bourbon barrels, the Mackmyra 2010/2022 was finally refined in an unusual way: in oak barrels that had previously been covered with lavish cherry wine. This is how exceptionally delicious aromas of spicy smoke and sweet cherries are combined in the unadulterated bottling.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Intense, fruity notes of cherries in combination with ginger spiciness and lightly tarred smoke with a hint of minerals and the sweetness of chocolate and marzipan.
Palate: Fruity with cherries balanced by pleasant smoke characterized by toasted oak, some salt and fresh tobacco. This is complemented by the sweetness of raisins, butterscotch and vanilla.
Finish: Spicy vanilla, soft wood tones, tobacco leaves and fruity sweetness lead to a long and dry finish.
