Kilchoman 100% Islay 2022 – 50,0%

This bottling is the 12th edition, the 2022 edition, with 20ppm.

With the 100% Islay range, the distillery produces an acclaimed single farm single malt that is the only whiskey in Scotland to be made entirely on site from barley to bottle. Distilled from Islay barley grown on the distillery’s fields in 2011, 2012 and 2013, the barley was then malted on site and peated with local Islay peat before being distilled, aged and finally bottled at the farm distillery. This is the twelfth edition of this range, aged in a combination of 29 bourbon casks and 6 oloroso sherry casks for a minimum of 8 years. Each cask has been personally selected for bottling by the distillery’s founder, Anthony Wills.

Original Tasting Notes:
Nose: Elegant, sweet peat smoke, followed by waves of citrus and
honey, finishing with notes of vanilla and salted caramel.
Palate: A Bourbon-driven % Islay brings an initial malt-driven
profile followed by green fruits; apple and pear. Light spice, raisin
and toffee are present towards the finish.
Finish: Peat smoke returns and remains on the palace. The oily
texture of this % Islay allows for a creamy profile balanced with
toffee and caramelised sugar.
