The Isle of Harris distillery is located in Tarbert, the island’s main town, and started production in autumn 2015. A privately run business, it was established in this remote location partly because of the founders’ deep connection with the island and affection for its inhabitants. As the only distillery on the island, it rises above the small harbour of Tarbert and represents the spirit of the island to anyone who comes to Harris by land or sea.

Scotland is no longer just the home of whisky. In the meantime, many distilleries also offer excellent gins. Among these exciting publishers is the Harris distillery, located in the Outer Hebrides. Juniper, coriander, angelica root, violet root, cubeb pepper, bitter orange peel, liquorice root and cinnamon define the flavours of their own gin. Above all, however, it is the locally harvested sugar kelp (a brown seaweed) that gives the Isle of Harris gin its subtle and maritime coastal notes and provides the key to a balanced and perfect taste. It is also interesting to note that the sugar kelp used for distillation is hand-harvested by a diver on site.
