Holsteiner Geister – “Ole Swetsch” plum brandy – 44.5%

This high-dose plum water from the Black Forest distillery was stored for many months in our barn in the Holstein Elbmarsch. It was matured in a freshly emptied Laphroaig whisky cask. A barrel made from American white oak, which was originally filled with bourbon whiskey before embarking on its long journey to Scotland.

The result is a complex but relatively mild spirit for its alcohol strength. The fruity plums dominate, closely followed by the flavours of the oak barrel: sweet vanilla and subtle tannins. This unique spirit speciality leaves the tongue and palate with a distinctive smoky note, a long-lasting, peaty greeting from the Scottish island of Islay.
