The distillery was founded in 1789 and with its location in Krikwall on the Orkney Islands it is the distillery that is the northernmost in Scotland. Because of this special location and the special peat on Orkney the whisky has a peculiar taste. One aroma that is described very often to be found is the ‘sweetness of heather’.
