Glenturret claims to be the oldest distillery in Scotland, like many others do. But this distillery really could be the oldest, because already in 1775 there was existing a distillery on the area the distillery is located today. The distillery has the name Glenturret since 1875. It lays at a quaint place outside of Crieff and next to the River Turret. The water that is used comes from the Loch Turret. The distillery is producing for the Blend ‘Famous Gouse’.

With this Glenturret, another speciality has made it into Gordon MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice series and joins other fine wines as a single cask at cask strength. 15 years old, matured in a refill sherry butt and limited to 551 bottles.
Certainly nothing ordinary in character, but nevertheless to be recommended to every fan of sherry whiskies! The nose is atypical, special, thoughts of damp forest come to the fore. Then the whisky becomes chocolaty, spicy. Caramel and fudge are present. The finish is warm, soft and tends to be sweet.
