The Glenfiddich (Valley of the Fiddich or Hirschtal) is given a very special role in the historical consideration of single malt Scotch whisky. It was he who, in 1963, was the first whisky ever to be bottled and offered as a SINGLE MALT. The distillery, which was built in 1886 by William Grant and his family, is still family-owned today. The water for Glenfiddich comes from the Robbie Dubh spring as it did over 100 years ago. The other distilleries owned by the company are Balvenie, Kininvie and the Girvan grain distillery.
