Dun Bheagan

Named after the city in which the fiefdom of the Macleod of Macleod, Lord of the Isles, lies on the Isle of Skye. Dun Bheagan, the Gaelic spelling of Dunvegan, means either “little castle” or Began’s castle. Began is known to have been a Norwegian chieftain who ended up in Skye. Antony McCallum-Caron, Rare Malt Manager at Ian Macleod Distillers, created the brand in 1997.

One of the four largest independent whisky bottlers, Ian Macleod, can fall back on a well-stocked warehouse of whisky casks. In addition to the Dun Bheagan brand, Ian Macleod Ltd. Bottles under the names ‘As we get it’ or Isle of Skye and also some other labels. The Glengoyne Distillery is also part of the company.
