Companero is Spanish and stands for buddy or comrade. Rums from Panama are primarily used for the bottlings of Companero rums, but rums from Jamaica or Trinidad are also used to complement them. The sugar cane used for the molasses of the Companero rums is always harvested by hand. Oak wood waters are primarily used for maturation purposes.

In the Companero Gran Reserva, traditional rum from Jamaican potstills is blended with classic rum from column stills in Trinidad. In this way, a rum from Trinidad that tends to be a little more elegant complements the somewhat stronger one from Jamaica perfectly.
Not only in terms of age, but also in terms of taste, the most mature rum is the strong, yet well-balanced Compañero Gran Reserva.
