]]> We have a pretty amicable friendship with the distillery Glenfarclas and especially with George Grant.
Glenfarclas means as much ‘valley of the green grassland’. It was built in 1836 by Robert Hay and bought by John Grant in 1865. Until today it still is owned by the family Grant. The family brings out standard bottlings as well as outstanding special bottlings with foresight and continuity. We had the great chance to choose several casks personally and do our own bottlings. Since 2006 George Grants visits in Itzehoe are one of our highlights we experienced. The mainly used Oloroso Sherry Casks give the whisky its character, that is pretty special and appreciated by whisky experts in the whole world.

Since its foundation in 1825, the small Highland distillery has been working according to the same methods - and can even count as one of the few in Scotland a functioning water wheel among its interior fittings and circuit. Despite all the love of tradition, time does not stand still any more than the mill wheel. And so Glencadam is also experimenting.

]]> Glencadam, which translates as “Valley of the Wild Goose”, was commissioned in Brechin in 1825. Most of the production is used for the Ballantines brand. After 180 years in the whisky waiting loop, Glencadam took the step out of the shadow of the blend industry onto the stage of the original bottlers. But rather quietly. Their “East Highlands” single malt made from unpeated barley malt is still considered an insider tip today.
The whiskies, which are up to 30 years old and neither coloured nor chill-filtered, are produced in two original copper pot stills, just as they were in the founding days of the small distillery. Due to their construction, these produce a particularly delicate and soft spirit. This is because the Lyne arms run at an angle of 15 degrees upwards, not downwards.

]]> Glendronach 1992 – Cask Bottling Batch 18 – 48% https://www.whizita.de/en/product/glendronach-1992-cask-bottling-batch-18-48/ Tue, 20 Apr 2021 13:20:17 +0000 https://www.whizita.de/?post_type=product&p=43266 This 27 year old Glendronach was bottled for the in-house Single Cask series. The whisky for this bottling was distilled in 1992 and was then allowed to develop its full potential in the port pipe with the number 5897 for 27 years until it was finally bottled in 2020.

]]> Glendronach is located in the Highlands at the Dronachburn in the Valley of Forgue. It was founded by James Allardice in 1826. There were nearly only used Olosoro sherry casks for a long time, which still dominates the character of the whsiky today. Togehther with Glengassaugh and Benriach Glendronach belongs to the Benriach Distillery Company Ltd.
