]]> The Glen Moray distillery is located in the Speyside and was built by the Glen Moray Glenlivet Distillery Co. Ltd in 1897. It is the only distillery at the shore of the Lossie, where it also gets its water from. The name Glen Moray means as much as ‘valley of the village at the lake’.

]]> Nc’nean is Annabel Thomas’ dream come true of a modern, sustainable whisky distillery in Scotland. The distillation on the coast of the Morvern peninsula has been running since 2017.
The whisky is made from organically grown Scottish barley in a distillery that is 100 percent renewable energy. It is bottled in the UK’s first fully recycled clear glass bottle. “Made by nature, not by rules” is the motto of one of the few women-run whisky distilleries in the world.

]]> With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has recently grown to include an independent, family-run farm distillery. It is not only the former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, John Campbell, who is responsible for the distinctive style of their single malt. As one of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea uses only barley from its own cultivation and distils and matures its whisky on site. From the field to the bottle, Lochlea single malt is traceable – in keeping with the distillery’s motto, “Dare to be honest”.

Original Tasting Notes
Nose: Fragrant and delicate with bursting notes of fresh pineapple, hibiscus and lemon sherbets.
Palate: Herbaceous with undertones of dried apple granola, caramelized puffed wheat and buttered popcorn.
Finish: Light and graceful with reminiscence of orchard fruits and zesty freshness.

]]> The distillery was opened by Anthony Wills in 2005. It was the first new-opening of a distillery on Islay after a pause of 125 years. It is located in the northwestern part of the island on a former farmer area and is the only distillery on Islay that isn’t located next to the sea. It also is the only distillery on Islay which may call itself ‘100% Islay’, using all the ingredients and doing every producing step on the island.

The single cask is the final of the 2022 trilogy of bottlings, tasted and selected on site in the house cellars - exclusively for Kirsch Import customers.

The single cask bottling, limited to 90 bottles, is a particularly straightforward, classic and incredibly self-confident Calvados. At an intense 48.2% vol. it shows a very exciting interplay of aromas from fresh green apples to honey sweetness and minerality to intense spice.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Fresh green apple with overripe pear and orange peel as well as mineral limestone and soft honey sweetness.

Palate: Very appley, with pronounced minerality, subtle oak and lots of spice.

Aftertaste: Long, with lasting freshness.

]]> The roots of the Chateau du Breuil go back to the 16th century. Originally built as a manor house, part of the estate was converted into a distillery in 1954.
With a collection of vintage calvados dating back to 1939, the Drouin house is the equivalent of Gordon & MacPhail in the calvados business. The apple brandy from Normandy is produced by double pot still distillation of cider, i.e. fermented apple must. At Drouin, the origin-protected speciality matures intensively in a selection of mostly smaller oak barrels. The house also experiments with finishes.
