Miltonduff, also Milton Duff or Milton-Duff, was built in 1824 on the site of the Pluscarden monastery in the town of the same name near Elgin and rebuilt in 1895. It was renovated in 1974 and 1999, and in 1974 two stills were installed for the production of Mosstowie whisky. Their water still comes from the Black Burn. Their whiskey is a main component of the Ballantines blend.

From 1994 to 1981 Mosstowie whisky was also distilled on a Lomond still at the Miltonduff Distillery.

This Lowland single malt whiskey from Cadenhead's was bottled for the Enigma series without specifying the distillery. After 10 years of aging in a bourbon hogshead, the whiskey was bottled in November 2023 in a limited edition of 342 bottles at 56.4%.
This whiskey impresses with its fruity and creamy aromas and a light citrus freshness.
