]]> The Glenlivet distillery was the first legal distillery that was founded by the ‘art of exercise’ by George Smith (1824). It is located in the Speyside near Minmore (Ballindalloch) since 1858. Since 1880 it has the name affix ‘The’ Glenlivet for which the distillery had to fight in front of the court. Today it is owned by Pernod Ricard.

]]> The Bunnahabhain distillery is located at the kyle of Islay at the edge of the island in the northeast and lays that isolated, that there had to be constructed a long and curvy street down to the sea as it was built in 1881.The water that is used has its origin in an underground spring from the river Margadale and therefore it comes from Islay it has a relatively low concentration of peat. Until 2003 it was owned by an descendant of the founder, Highland Distillers. Nowadays it is owned by Burn Stewart Distillers.
