The distillery is located south of Wigtown at the riverside of the Bladnoch where it also gets its water from. It is the distillery that lays most southern in Scotland and belongs to the lowlands. It was found in 1817 and nowadays still is active.

With Bladnoch “Alinta”, Scotland’s southernmost distillery opens a new chapter and introduces the first heavily peated Bladnoch single malt. In the language of the Australian aborigines, “Alinta” stands for fire or flames, which is why David Prior, the Australian owner of Bladnoch Distillery, is presenting his latest bottling with this addition to the name.
Bladnoch “Alinta” is a heavily peated distillate from 2009 (still produced under the previous owners), matured in first fill bourbon casks as well as heavily peated distillate from the new production (since 2017), matured in first fill PX sherry casks. Bottled naturally without the addition of colouring and without chill-filtration, at the strength of 47%.
It is worth mentioning that the 2009’s portions of the “Alinta” are really special. On the one hand, they were produced with the old still, and on the other hand, this only took place once. Only one batch of heavily peated malt was distilled by the then owners of Bladnoch in 2009 and so it is truly a rarity. In combination with the new distillate matured in PX casks, the result is an impressive and multi-faceted drop.
