In the center of the Speyside at the northern slope of the same-named mountain at the height of the 250 meters the distillery Benrinnes, which was named Lyne of Ruthrie and found in 1835. It has a special character: It owns a wash still that divides the low wines. First the low wines are piped into the spirit still number two before they get to spirit number one. Their distillate is burnt a second time then, therefore there is practiced a very special kind of three time distillation. The water that is used comes from Scurrn and Rowentree Burns.

This 9 year old Benrinnes was bottled for the independent bottler James Eadie. The whisky was matured in a 1st fill sherry cask and distilled in 2007. In the aroma one can detect bright fruits like grapes, vanilla, gooseberries, toffee. The palate is not dissimilar to the basic aroma. However, peach, leather & pepper can also be detected. Finally, spices and medium-long oak in the finish.
