This special edition was bottled with a high alcohol content in order to offer fans of peated whisky an intense and unadulterated experience of the pronounced sweet peat character. Smoke Season is a small batch bottling that uses one of Benriach’s traditional, seasonal production techniques. The maturation in American Oak barrels and Bourbon barrels enhances the roasted sweetness and brings depth and intensity to the smoky-sweet Benriach style.

Tasting Notes

Nose: caramel smoke, oak spice, citrus peel

Palate: apricot, apple peel, toasted almond and mocha cream, with an intriguing, fruit and oak finish

The distillery Benriach is located south of the city Elgin next to the distillery Longmorn and therefore belongs to the Highlands. It was founded in 1898 and already closed down again in 1900, before it was re-opened not until 65 years later. As one of a few of Scotlands distilleries it has its own malting floors. Since 2008 Glendronach and Glenglassaugh belong to the Benriach Distillery Co. Ltd.
