It was built 1825 by John McDonald, a descendant of the Lord of the Isles. Between 1984 and 1990 the production was stopped, after Nikka took over the company the production continued one year later. Vintage whiskies from a closed distillery, single malts from rare single casks – Signatory Vintage seeks out exclusive Scotch whiskies for its bottlings. More than 10,000 hogsheads, butts and the like are stored in the halls of the independent bottler. Signatory releases bottlings from this wooden treasure in various series. The orange tubes are synonymous with (entry-level) whiskies with a pleasant drinking strength of 43% vol. Now Signatory is discontinuing the series.
The Highlander from the foot of the mountain of the same name, the Ben Nevis 2014/2022, matured in casks pre-loaded with sherry of the Oloroso type.
