The distillery lays at the bottom of the Ben Nevis, the highest mountain of Scotland, located at the Western Highlands next to Fort William. It was built 1825 by John McDonald, a descendant of the Lord of the Isles. Between 1984 and 1990 the production was stopped, after Nikka took over the company the production continued one year later. The water for Ben Nevis comes from the Allt A Mhullin Burn.

This 2009 Ben Nevis was bottled by Malts of Scotland for their Innocent Dram range after aging in a Sherry Hogshead. The series is ideal for familiarizing yourself with the distillery character of distilleries.
