The distillery Auchentoshan (which means as much as ‘corner of the field’) is located at the western edge of the town of Glasgow, not far away from River Clyde and the Eskine Bridge. Although it uses water that has its origin at the Kilpatrick Hills, which belong to the whisky region of the Highlands, Auchentoshan belongs to the lowlands. It is the only distillery that remains with three big stills using the for this region typical procedure of three-time distillation, which makes the whisky soft and aromatical. Stories tell that is has already been built around 1800.
