The distillery Arran is located on the head of an island that owns the same name and lays between the western coast of Scotland and the peninsula Kintryre. The island Arran has good access from Glasgow by car and ferry. The distillery started producing in 1995 on time delay, because of a pair of Golden Eagles that hatched right where the distillery was supposed to be build. It was built by Harold Currie, who had been very successful in the whisky industrie and even was director of Chevas. With building the distillery a big dream for him came true.

The whisky for this bottling was first matured in former bourbon casks for seven full years. The whisky was then transferred to smaller so called “quarter casks” and matured there for two more years. The whisky is proven to mature faster in small barrels, which means that it absorbs a lot of aroma in a short time.
