Im Mai 2017 brachten Bill Dobbie und Alasdair Day nach mehr als 40 Jahren den Gerstenanbau zur\u00fcck nach Raasay. Seitdem gedeihen hier etwa die alten isl\u00e4ndischen Gerstensorten Bere und Iskria. Als Grundlage f\u00fcr den Pionier-Malt der Brennerei reichte das noch nicht. Malz aus schottischer Gerste, noch \u00fcber Highland-Torf gedarrt (f\u00fcr weitere Abf\u00fcllungen wird bereits mit lokalem Torf geplant), bildet die Grundlage f\u00fcr das Isle of Raasay Single Malt Inaugural Release 2020. Leicht rauchig, mit satten Aromen von dunklen Fr\u00fcchten und in nat\u00fcrlichem, kr\u00e4ftigem Rotbraun f\u00fchrt der Scotch sinnlich in den Brennereistil der Raasay Distillery ein \u2013 und stiftet Vorfreude auf die ab Mai 2021 erwartete Core Range.<\/p>\n

Weitere Besonderheiten des Whiskys: das durch vulkanisches Sedimentgestein gefilterte Raasay-Wasser sowie die ungew\u00f6hnlich lange Fermentation von 96 bis 110 Stunden. Diese h\u00e4lt den hohen Mineralgehalt des Wassers aufrecht und sorgt so schon vor jedem Fasskontakt f\u00fcr den charakteristischen beerenfruchtigen Geschmack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
