Der Name der Brennerei Ardbeg bedeutet \u201eKleine Anh\u00f6he\u201c. Sie liegt an der S\u00fcdk\u00fcste der Whiskyinsel Islay auf dem Weg vom Hafenst\u00e4dtchen Port Ellen nach Kildalton. Der Standort der jetzigen Brennerei war schon bei Schwarzbrennern beliebt. Nach einer sehr bewegten Geschichte mit zeitweisen Schlie\u00dfungen wurde Ardbeg 1997 von Glenmorangie PLC \u00fcbernommen, die dann ihrerseits 2004 von Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy gekauft wurden, und ist mittlerweile eine der ber\u00fchmtesten Brennereien Schottlands, die f\u00fcr ihre rauchigen, torfigen und salzigen Abf\u00fcllungen mit starken Phenolt\u00f6nen bekannt ist. Das Wasser der Destille stammt aus dem Loch Arinambeast und Loch Uigeadail, nach denen auch 2 Abf\u00fcllungen benannt sind. Im Jahre 2015 wurde Ardbegs 200.
