The distillery is located a few miles west of Pitlochry near Moulin and is part of the Highlands whisky region. It was probably founded in 1825 and is the only Scottish distillery that is still preserved in the style of farmhouse operations. In 2018, however, the new Edradour II building went into operation, which can now produce up to 500,000 liters of alcohol per year. Ballechin, which is a peaty Edradour, is now also produced there, and the old stones from the Ballechin distillery were also used to build Edradour II.
